Wendy Giddens Teeter, Ph.D, RPA |
Dr. Wendy Giddens Teeter is the Curator of Archaeology at the Fowler Museum at UCLA and thas been the UCLA NAGPRA Coordinator since 1998. She co-directs the Pimu Catalina Island Archaeology Project, which focuses on the history of Catalina and its relationships with other islands and the mainland. Professionally Dr. Teeter is part of several boards and committees, including the Committee on Museums, Collections and Curation, for the Society for American Archaeology. Dr. Teeter teaches, publishes, and lectures about prehistoric archaeology, curation and cultural heritage preservation in California through UCLA American Indian Studies and in the Department of Anthropology at California State University, Northridge. Ms. Desireé Reneé Martinez has dedicated her life to obtaining skills and knowledge to combat the wanton destruction of Native American sacred and cultural sites, especially those of her community, the Gabrieliño (Tongva). Desiree received her BA in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and her MA in Anthropology from Harvard University. Desiree is a co-Director of the Pimu Catalina Island Archaeological Field School; Desiree's work is to remind the southern California community of the Gabrieliño’s vibrant heritage and continuing contribution to the southern California region. Karimah Kennedy-Richardson, MA, RPA |
Ms. Karimah Kennedy-Richardson is a Co-Director for the Pimu Catalina Archaeological Project. She is currently the Staff Archaeologist for Southwest Museum of American Indian Collection at the Autry National Center. Additionally she is a doctoral student at the University of California, Riverside focusing in Biological Anthropology. Before working at the Autry she worked for 8 years in Cultural Resource Management. She also participated in an osteological internship for two summers at the National Archaeology Museum of Lisbon analyzing Roman human remains. Since 2008 Karimah has continued performing osteological inventories, and analysis on collections at both the Fowler and Autry Museums. E: [email protected] |

Lucius provides communications and marketing assistance for the field school. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles in both American Indian Studies and Anthropology and has completed both underwater and terrestrial archaeological field schools. He has worked on archaeological sites and on cultural resources preservation projects throughout the United States.
